subject +try + to + verb
This structure is so common that no explanation is necessary. Here " try" means "make an attempt".
Read this example.
Sam tried to design a spoken English course.
Sam made an attempt to design a course but we do not know whether he succeeded or not.
1. I tried to place an order for the book 'Teach English' on line.
2. The teacher said," Why don`t you try to get through KET"(key English test)
3. The consultant advised us to pass IELTS before we applied for visa.
4. Brown tried to study medicine in a foreign university.
