Mrs. ,Miss, or Ms.
“Ms” is a tittle that comes before a woman`s name. it is
used when you do not want to state whether she is married or not or her
marrital state is not known.
Ms. Ann gave a talk
on women`s liberation.
This came into use in the early 1970s when it was adopted by
feminists who do not wish to be publicly labelled as married or single. Most
people find this acceptable and useful but some people disapprove of it.
For men, “Mr.” is used without regarding his marrital
status. But “Mrs.” and “Miss” are there for women. Do you think it is their
right to use one (Ms) as men do?
I think a woman should be addressed by the form she uses
herself, whatever your own feelings on the subject. This is not to make a stand
for or against feminism, it is simply good manners.
Remember these words.
Feminism – the
belief and aim that women should have the same rights and opportunities as men, the struggle to achieve this aim.
Feminist _ A person who supports the belief that women
should have the same rights and opportunities as men.
